What is Quercetin?
In long technical words, Quercetin is a bioflavonoid, a phytochemical, and a naturally-occurring polar auxin inhibitor. But it is commonly called an antioxidant. Antioxidants slow the degredation of other molecules and are very important for living healthily. Antioxidants inhibit chemicals in the body known as free radicals. These free radicals are produced during sickness or bouts of exercise and can cause damage to tissues, infection, and injury.
Where is Quercetin Found?
Quercetin is found primarily in red onions, grapes, berries, apples, buckwheat, and red wine. But most recently has been isolated and made available in supplement form by a company known as "FRS Healthy Energy."

1. Increase your endurance. Mark Davis, PhD studied the effect of quercetin supplements on 12 untrained students at the University of South Carolina. The subjects were each given a VO2 Max test, which is a common measure of aerobic fitness. Then for the next week, half of the students were given Quercetin and the other half were given Tang and a placebo. After the week, the subjects were then aerobically tested again and it was found that the students whom took the supplement were able to exercise 12 minutes longer than they had been able to exercise before. Another study on experienced cyclists found that after taking Quercetin for 6 weeks, the cyclists performed 3.1% better in a 30 kilometer time trial.

When and How to take Quercetin.
It is best to take Quercetin 20 minutes before meals, whether you take the supplement form (for example, FRS Healthy Energy) or eat a food or drink that is high in Quercetin.
Any risks of Quercetin?
Since it is a common food component, it seems to be a generally safe substance. Although usage has been associated with headaches, hematoma, kidney toxicity, and gastrointestinal effects. Talking to your doctor is the best way to avoid any negative reactions.
